About

Pieter Wisse, 1980, The Netherlands, is a Rotterdam based photographer. In 2007 he received a BFA in photography at the School of Fine Arts, Utrecht.

In 2008 Pieter released the book Rook Vrij (Smoke Free) together with designer Ward Nicolaas. It was a reaction to the new ban on smoking in bars. Pieter wanted to photograph how the people were dealing with the new law, but he soon found out that nothing had changed, the smoke was still filling the air in the bars that function as livingrooms for their guests.
In 2009 he released the book I believe in 88. After being stabbed in 1995 by a neonazi, Pieter went to Wismar, a small city in former Eastern Europe, to find and follow a group of right-wing extremists. The hardcover book contains 90 images and an essay written by expert Klaus Farin.

In June 2009, Pieter started Four Eyes Photography Productions. It publishes Four Eyes Photography Magazine once a year and has a bookstore and gallery in the Rotabs Style Center in Rotterdam.

In April 2010, Wisse started the 500 Photographers Project. For a period of 100 weeks he presents 5 photographers a week to build an archive of amazing photographers of the 21st century.
